ricelilyOoo! TWO journal entries in one month? Must have a lot on my mind to be writing that much.
January seems to be going by a lot slower for me than the past months leading up to the new year. The summer crawled agonizingly slow and then the Fall just flew by.
Anyway, this past Saturday was my first session back from the holidays and I’ve got my first taste of the Intro to spins and jumps. This time around was a bit different in terms of structure. Beyond the Adult Advance course, the intro to spins and jumps are condensed together, regardless of age group. So that means that my fellow classmates are 3 waist high, little skaters. The instructor is good so far and does his best to cater to his students.
Aside being shown up by a bunch of 5-8 year olds, I couldn’t help but notice that the increased number of students who were on the ice at the time. Usually adult classes have at most 10-14 students to start out, then dwindle down to 5-7 by the end. Same goes for kids, depending on which class bracket.
The beginning adults are 17 skaters strong! It was amazing to behold, and 20 kids per coach in the beginning courses for the kids. The parent and me students were like maybe 8 teams together. (16 individuals). It was nuts!
It’s always good to see more people gaining interest in the sport but I do miss the small, intimiate numbers. I don’t think I saw my usual rinkmates amongst the crowd. Weh.
Anyway, I missed out on a couple of opportunities to do some skating before the new session started. Since my mom took this graveyard shift, it’s been a little taxing on the both of us. More so on my mom, of course. I try to handle things while she rests during the day.
I haven’t been able to do much art either since I’m taking care of the animals. Uggghhhhhh but yeah. Enough excuses. I got some of the personal work done to some extent and I only have more piling up on my plate. Little by little, I’m knocking it out.
No strange dreams worth reporting at this time. Until then, that’s about it.
